Cook Island Week!

IALA: the Cook Island culture.

IALA: the similarities between my culture and the cook island culture.

This task was very fun to learn about the cook island culture and how similar they are to my culture. It was very fun I like learning about how they caught there food and how similar it is to my culture. The way they say there food and another are very similar to maori and some other cultures. For example pig- Poaka in Maori and Poaka in Cook Island also. I hope to learn about the Cook island more because it is a very interesting place and very lovely. Also there is around 21,000 to 15,000 people living in the cook island and most of them live in  Rarotonga.
This task was very fun and cant wait to hear about more intersting facts about the cook island culture. Thanks :D

Kauri - I heard a whisper but no one was there ...

I heard a whisper but no-one was there

One cold day it was my bedtime. When I put the blanket over me and layed my head down I told my Mum to turn the light off, but she couldn't hear me. The light turned off by itself I got scared my heart was beating so fast it was like I was having a heart attack. I yelled out to my Mum but she was having a shower. Then I heard this whisper it wasn't a high whisper it was a deep whisper, he said Come Over Here. It sounded like it was coming from my closet, I sat up and opened it up but no-one was there. I thought to myself why would they just come in our house and whisper to me when there are 100’s of house to go to. I thought again I think he might want me to go somewhere with him.
He wrote on the wall with paint follow me, but I didn't trust it so I just went back to sleep and thinked about happy stuff instead of scary and bad stuff. And he kept whispering to me so I sat up and ran down stairs to my Mum. She said what's happening, why are you crying so hard. I said mum someone is whispering to me it sound’s like it is coming from the closet. So Mum went and had a look she saw nothing to. The next day mum was scared to so she went and got holy water and blessing oil and put it all around the whole house.

I said to Mum what happens if you made the ghost even more angry she said no son it makes the ghost disappear. Then when I went sleep I was hoping to hear the same whisper but I paused and everything went quite. I was waiting and waiting for the whisper then nothing happens, it is a mystery Mum I think the ghost is gone and there is no whispering anymore. But I was still scared because what happens if it came back. The next day I had a shower when I got out I walked up stairs and into my room, I got changed and ready to go sleep until I heard a loud !!BANG!! coming from downstairs, I quickly ran downstairs to check if Mum was ok.

I said Mum are you ok she said yea son why nothing happened to me. I said did you hear the !!BANG!! she said yea, I said what was it Mum and she said I don't know. So I just slept in the lounge and watched T.V. The following hot sunny day I said to Mum, Mum we need to get a priest for a house in case the ghost has came back she said ok i'm gonna do it today,  “yaayy I yelled”. The priest came in at 5.00pm he blessed the whole house and said some words out of the bible and we said thank you very much, he said no problem  the ghost will be gone now. We were so happy and at 9:00pm I went to sleep all happy because the ghost was gone and I didn't have to worry about no more whispering.

I layed my head down and off I went to sleep and woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and happy like no one was there to  disturb me.
Then Me and Mum Lived Happily Ever After with no one to disturb us anymore.

This is my Imagination recount of "WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THE SUN DIDN'T RISE"

When I woke up from a deep deep sleep. I blinked and blinked again it felt like I was in a dream.
I thought I was imagining stuff around me. Then I opened the curtain expecting that there is going to be a beautiful sun rise. But there was a problem. My neighbours outside pointed up and said there is no sun. I got changed into my uniform then put on my converses and got ready to go to school. When I walked out of the door…

I saw my friend Toma.  He looked frightened.  “Where do you think the sun has gone?”  He cried.  I shook my head and said “I don’t know!  But I am freezing!”  Toma said “I’m going to go back home.  This is too freaky.”  I tried to continue on my journey to school, but...

It was spooky and dark like super super super tinted windows all around me.
I couldn't see anything around me. Then I arrived at school there was no one there, No kids, No teachers they probably thought it was still nighttime and I  was even more scared. My heart was pumping 20 km per hour I was shaking like I was cold. So I made my way back to home walking down the street. Then I suddenly fell over a piece of wood and grazed my knee.

It was sore but I had to make my way home without moaning.
Finally I made my way home safely but not thinking of how I fell over the wood.
I walked in my door and took of my uniform and shoes then run me a bath.
When the bath was finished I went in it and my graze on my knee was stinging.
Then I finished the bath and went to sleep at 9.30pm.
The next day the sun rises up and I was happy and my whole neighbourhood were impressed too.
Then I put my uniform on and converses and said to myself…

      IT’S JUST A NEW DAY!!

MY PRACTICE RECOUNT

Last Tuesday our class got to go out and play on the bike’s. I went down in the elevator with my friend. It was as white as the clouds. And it is as slow as a elephant.
First the bike monitors had to get the bikes out and then we had to get a helmet. We had to get a helmet which is tight on our head and so it doesn't fall off and it is a good protection for your head.

Me and my friends, Toma,Gary,Tevita and Kanye grabbed a helmet and off we went riding around the bike track. We play a game which is, there is a robber and the rest is cops. Gary was the robber he had to chase us on the bikes and if he is close enough to the next person they are in and have to catch the other people.

It was long and tiring but if we were tired we said pause and lucky there is a water tap so we could get a drink. Then we decided to not play it anymore because it got kind of boring.
Then the teacher said 2 more minutes so we got back on our bikes and went around the bike track as fast as we could so we can do as much laps as possible before we have to get off. Then time was up and we had to get off.

The bike monitors had to pack all of  the bikes back into the container and spray the helmets with disaffected spray.
I told the teacher if I could help put away the bikes she said YES!!.
When I walked in the container it smelt like brand new shoes when you first buy them.
Finally we finished packing the bikes where it belongs. Then we walked up and went back in the elevator it was slow like a turtle then went back to class and carried on with our work. And then it was time to go home. When I got home I played on my scooter and when I finished playing I went inside and watched youtube with my brother

Last saturday was when we went to watch Ellerslie eagles. We walked to the entry and we had to pay $8 for kids and $10 for Adults.
R
Then we brought hot chips and drinks then sat down and watched the other ellerslie teams play. Unfortunately they did come home with a win.
E
Finally the game started my heart was pumping. I was nervous and I had goosebumps.
E
After that the score was 18 to both teams then the game went into golden point. I was yelling loud and I was losing my voice. Then the Te Atatu roosters went for a drop kick and missed. We got the ball and made heaps of meters. They were in the Te Atatu roosters 20. The hooker gave it to the wing and he ran and ran and dived at the try line the everybody cheered and we were happy then they got there medal and had photos. They went to the changing rooms and one the ellerslie boys said I rather be a Eagle then a rooster then we lived happily ever after.

I felt exhausted and like my legs were going to collapse.
It was fun because I could get fit from it and catch up with mates.

My description about Malama Honua

WALT write a description about our Malama Honua experience using our five senses.

First I could hear the helicopter flying around us it sounded like we were in the war and someone was shooting a machine gun. When I  saw these two Pt england girls gave three cheers for the Manaiakalani and the ancestors and when we said hip hip hurray it was loud as like 3 elephants stomping.

Second I could smell Fresh air and fresh grass because it was raining and rain will make grass grow and the sun to and sun was shining on it to. I could smell petrol from the bus when we were leaving to go to Pt england.

Third I could Taste the salty air going through my mouth and down my throat and my throat was dry but we could not have a drink until the Malama Honua was finished.

Fourth I could see the manaiakalani cluster of schools it looked like a colourful rainbow. And I saw lots of seaweed washed up onto  the sand .

Fifth I felt exhausted and proud of myself because the day was over and the haka was not just for me it was for the hawaiian people and for my ancestors.
